She was born in Abbeville, GA in 1939 and graduated from Ft. Valley High School. While in school, she met the love of her life Thomas Pierce, Sr.  Legend has it that Thomas had another girlfriend from a different high school. Connie Sue Pierce followed in 1960, then Vicki Lynn Pierce in 1964. Lastly, in 1966, Randall Eric Pierce (Randy) was born.

After retirement, Sue spent more time volunteering with her church wherever needed. She loved crafts, gardening, playing dominoes with her friends, playing games and solving puzzles, trying out new electronic gadgets, but most of all she loved caring and loving her family and her beloved Shih Tzu, Chloe, whom she spoiled rotten.
