Obituary of Maj. Joseph L. Pike

Warner Robins: Maj. Joseph L. Pike, AUS RET, 65, died Wednesday September 14, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bill Bagwell will officiate. Maj. Pike, a native of Marion County, was the son of the late David and Kathleen Hagler Pike. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Becomers Sunday School Class. He was also retired from the US Army having served three tours in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Senior Army Aviator’s Badge, Air Medal with 39 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Comendation Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, four overseas Service Bars, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit. He was also a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot’s Association. Survivors include his wife Carolyn S. Pike of Warner Robins. Sons: Chris Julie Pike of Roswell, Ken Pike of Warner Robins. Siblings: C. E. Suzanne Pike of Warm Springs, Dr. Ben Linda Pike of Columbus, Carol Nunnally Walters of Duluth, Sue Kenny Rodgers of Warner Robins, Julie Michael Scott of Centerville. Grandson: Ryan Pike. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Houston County, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088 of the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 129 S. Houston Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
