Obituary of Gerald A. Prats

Byron GA- Gerald “Jerry” Anthony Prats, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 18, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Green Lawn Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana. The Reverend Andy Pickens will officiate. Jerry was born on August 30, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late John T. and Louise (Loyacano) Prats. A generous and kind-hearted soul, Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Army. He continued to serve his country as a Computer Scientist in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia where he retired after 30 years. You could always depend on him for anything and Jerry could keep you laughing with all of his funny stories. He loved his country and was a proud patriot. Jerry also loved Jesus and served him as a member of the Byron Church of Christ. He loved to travel with his beautiful wife, Charlotte all throughout North America in his RV, cross country trips, various cruises, and especially his cabin, otherwise known as his man cave, in Louisiana where he could watch the ducks swim in the lake. Jerry indulged in eating crab and other types of seafood. He really enjoyed loving on his four legged babies, Bella, Cherie, and Tink. Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Cogdell Prats; 2 brothers, John Prats, Jr. and Robert Prats. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Charlotte Prats, Byron, GA; 3 daughters, Blaze Prats, Madisonville LA; Fair Prats Herd (Carlos), Florida; Jada Prats Davis, Hammond LA; 2 stepdaughters, Jennifer Engram, Byron, GA; Amanda O’Connor, Bryon, GA; 1 stepson, Alan Hill, Warner Robins, GA; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Danny Prats (Linda), Covington, LA; Wayne Prats (Amy) Covington, LA.
