Obituary of Melinda Jo Smalley

Fort Valley, GA- Melinda Jo Smalley, 56, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 1:00PM, at the First Assembly of Fort Valley, 881 Taylor's Mill Road, Ft. Valley, GA.

Mrs. Smalley was born April 10, 1962 in Macon, Georgia to the late Harris and Eva Thompson. She worked in food management for several years. Melinda was a devoted member of Fort Valley Assembly of God Church where she volunteered for the Children’s Giving Program. Her favorite past time was cutting out coupons, she believed in saving a penny. There are three words to describe Melinda, loving, awesome and back bone. She was a caring person and it showed in her every day walk. She would give the shirt off her back to help one in need. Her greatest joy however was her grandchildren who she loved and adored. Melinda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Melinda is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Thompson

Her memory will be cherished forever by her loving husband of 16 years, Hugh Smalley; children, Angela Scott (Sentorio); Gene Davidson (Tanekia); Jessica Kemp; mother, Eva Thompson; 13 grandchildren; sister, Georgia Thompson. and several nieces and nephews.
