My thoughts were with all the family this morning during the service and was so saddened that i was not able to be there. Mr. Busby will forever and was always like my 2nd Dad to me. I missed seeing him when i was in WR but happy that he was in Mobile with Tommy. He was the most positive, loving, caring, funny, sweet man I have ever known & will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.

I always thought of him as Melvin T even though I referred to him as Mr Busby. I met him when I was 16 and good friends with Tommy. We all loved him because he was one of those dads who understood boys being boys. His home was always open to us even when we had caused trouble. His method of discipline was always handled with a smile and often a laugh. I will always have fond memories of Melvin T.

Melvin Busby, my uncle, was my Dad’s only brother. Melvin was a wonderful man who always had a smile and a kind word to say to everyone. Melvin really enjoyed playing golf and I had the pleasure of playing a game or two with him in his later years. He passed his love of golf on down to his son Tommy, and Tommy passed it on down to his sons. I loved my uncle Melvin!

Uncle Melvin was a very special person to us. We loved when he and sweet aunt Francis visited our home in several different states. He always had a friendly smile and disposition, almost all the time. I enjoyed playing golf with him and he was very serious and competitive about golf, and occasionally I won.We made lots of homemade biscuits and tomato gravy. We will miss him and remember him with love. Keith and Melissa Greathouse

Some of you may know him as Melvin, or some of you may know him as Buz, maybe even Mr. Busby....he had many names but the few that were so dear to me was PAW...PAPA... and to the great grands he was GAGA. No matter what you called him he was our HERO! YOU see he was an honorable WORLD WAR II VETERAN that served this wonderful Country we call home! He was my heart and soul, papa lived a good ...no I take that back a Great life 97 years long not many people see that long...He was a true blessing to the many that had the opportunity to have known him. But I was the luckiest of all bc he was my granddaddy. Oh the stories I could tell from all the memories and trips or just everyday life, there never was a dull moment I tell you that. Ole Paw thought of himself as a video producer at one time though....lol he created alot of memories for us to look back on. He was a Shriner and dedicated at that for so many years we attend probably more than enough circuses and easter hunts, and enjoyed it everytime. The most memorable trip I got to take with him and nana and my mom was to Las Vegas when I was 18 best trip I have ever went on. If any of yall has ever went on a trip with Nana and Papa you were in for a treat... If papa was going to fast oh Nana was going to let him know. I seen many things and learned many things from that trip I will never forget. Again like I said so many memories! Papa was also an excellent gardner faithfully every year...so many vegetables I remember snapping purple hull peas on the back porch all the time. Wish I could go bk and do it again. Those were the day. Let me tell you. Granddaddy also had us all in church at a early age I believe all of us attend Cheerful Cherubs at First United Church a time or to loved it. Dont let me get started on how much of a Pro Golfer he was... I remember my sister Jessica and I had our own set of golf clubs mine was light pink and Jessicas was hot pink and black I think our favorite part was getting to drive the golf cart every now and then lol. I couldgo on and on we all have so many wonderful memories with him he will never be forgotten Melvin Busby thank you so much for your service as a World War II vet and the impact you had on everyone of our lives we love you so much Rest heavinly my papa melvin I hope your dancing in the sky I hope your singing in the angels choir I hope the angels know what they have ...
