I met Glen two days after moving to W/R. He lived two doors over from us. It was the summer of ’66 and we both were 10 years old, him being two months older and he proudly held that over me until we finally reached an age where it no longer mattered. I was outside when I saw a boy coming down the road on his bike…on his back wheel, until he went up into his yard and dropped the front wheel down. I had never seen anyone do that and I soon found out that he could ride a “wheelie” for as far as he wanted, something I never mastered. Our neighbor, Angel asked him to come down to our house to meet me. I had never seen anyone with freckles and when I saw him I thought something was wrong with him. He had a face FULL!
We developed a close relationship that lasted forever. We were the best of friends and shared a lot of experiences together. We had a lot of fun, and sometimes we would clash but we always got over it and grew even closer. I didn’t see him much for the past 10 years and I regret that but life has a way of taking us in different directions. We were even “brother-in-laws” at one time.
Glen had a great sense of humor and (to use one of his expressions) was a “hoot” to be around. He had a heart of gold. He loved his family and his love for his kids was immeasurable and never ending. Glen, no more pain brother. May you rest in peace and, Hubba Hubba Hubba.
