To Richard's family
My name is Steve Emerick, i was a very good friend of Richard thru the trading card forums, we use to speak all the time until one day he moved to Maryland and his number didnt work anymore.
I am at a complete loss of words to describe what a fine person Richard was. My deepest condolences to you his family, if he meant that much to me I can only imagine what he meant to you.
Richard coined a phrase for our hobby "collect hard" Im sure he did everything in life with that same passion.

Never met him. Friends on Facebook. Shared many common interests and a warped sense of humor. I just found out he's gone. To those who really knew and loved him I extend my sincere condolences.

To Richard's family,
I never met him in person, but he was my firend. His loss is devestating, he was always here and will continue to be always near to me. We shared many common interests, we could have so easily been brothers. May you find peace in these most perilous of times. May you know he had an impact on many of us, with a heavy heart, he will be missed. Godspeed my brother.

Your comments mean a lot to me. I think these past few years since Richard came back home after so many years away he spent more time online with his “cyber friends” than with his old friends and family since he felt he had more in common with them since his world view had changed so drastically over the years he was gone. In spite of all that he was unwavering in his love and devotion to his family as was ours for him. He was a kind wonderful person and I will love and miss him forever.

My deepest condolences to Richard's family and friends . We met on facebook , and became friends for a hundred reasons since Richard was well worth being friends with , the bright , funny , peppery man that he was , but very much also because I am a retired cook. We had the most wonderful talks - and arguments! - about food . We spoke on the phone and our last conversation must have been not long before his untimely death . We had planned to meet soon , since I now live in Georgia . I am horrified that he is gone from us so soon , so cruelly , and I am grieved beyond my capacity to describe . It was lovely to have known him , and I shall miss him .

I send my deepest condolences to Richard's family and friends. I knew him through a veteran's group and found his sharp wit, compassion, and intelligence a joy to be around. We shared art knowledge, military ribbing, and politics, and he was so happy with his chef's program. I am so sorry he did not get a chance to practice his ability in full. Love and light to you all.

Condolences to all of Richard's family. I am sad the public cannot attend to the COVID-19 pandemic. I would certainly have been there, and will be virtually. Me and Richard and Geoff would carpool together, which meant me and Richard begged Geoff for a ride & pitched in gas, from WR to Macon for tech school. Me and Richard were in Graphic Arts and Drafting together. Richard was so talented. He made me an Allman Brothers Enlightened Rogues airbrushed wall art and license plate. He let me have a sketch of a bear he made. We shared a lot of laughs over at Geoff and Kevins. I am sad for Geoff and his family. I am sad for all of Richards cousins - he had SO many. Most every cool person you may know is related to Richard, Geoff or Kevin. I last saw Richard at Kevin's funeral. He spoke at the service about Kevin's large music library. So true, and I had forgotten. Sorry I won't be able to hug you all in person, but know I really am.

I can't seem to find a single photograph to share, I guess we spent more time enjoying the moments we shared rather than trying to preserve them. Our friendship was an odd match up, but it was one that I will always treasure. Richard was an intensely passionate person in whatever topic we might be discussing, or whatever dream he was pursuing. I enjoyed our conversations, whether they covered politics, kitchen wares, or even music or darts. Even though our personalities and beliefs were vastly different, I always appreciated his perspective. And he certainly never minded giving it. I haven't seen Richard in a few years, but we kept in touch periodically on Facebook. I'd ask him for his opinion on things, or send him silly pictures. I followed his culinary path, vicariously living one of my own long forgotten dreams. Even though our friendship was short, he will be sorely missed. To those of you who knew him better and longer, my deepest sympathy, Richard was a truly great person, and I consider myself lucky to have known him for the brief time that I did.
