I became friends with Gordon back in 2001 when we worked together in the Support Equipment and Vehicle Directorate (LE) at Robins AFB. You could not help but like Gordon as anybody who ever met him would tell you. He brought a smile to all who encountered him. I count it a privilege to have know him and was very saddened to learn of his passing, Prayers are lifted that God bring comfort and peace to all the family.

I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Strong's passing. Papa and Nana, as we called them, were some of the best volunteers I ever had in my classroom at Eagle Springs Elementary. They brought joy and smiles every morning to all of my students and to me as well. And Papa continued to bless us as he continued to volunteer after Rosebud's passing. Now they are together. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The world is a dimmer place now. Gordo, the perpetual life of the party, outrageous and so lovable and always a pleasure to see and be around. You are one of the few people that I can say will be truly missed by everyone you ever met. My sincere condolences to your family and the rest of us.

Met Gordon at church. What an absolutely great guy, one that I will never forget. We were talking one day and he noticed that I had on an 82nd Airborne shirt. Came to find out that his dad was in the 82nd during WWII. After talking some more, I found out that I served in the same unit as his dad at the beginning of my career. Even though we were decades apart, he brought me this poster that his dad received back then.
He was always just a very giving person as long as I knew him.
Bittersweet learning of his passing, but it is awesome to know that he is healed!!!

Where do I begin? Far too many memories to share. Gordon was a true gentleman, a patriot, loyal friend, dedicated employee, loving volunteer and one heck of a comedian. He could brighten your worst days. He loved and gave without asking anything in return. Since leaving the base many years ago I had not seen him in quite a while until a few months ago. We were both older but it was like no time had past talking to him. When leaving he hugged my neck and told me he loved me. He loved everyone and wasn't shy about letting the world know. That was just Gordon. We need more Gordons in this world. I can just imagine the huge smile, the eyes brighten and the happy tears when he saw his Rosebud again. You will be missed my dear friend.
