Obituary of Oscar Martin Schriber

Warner Robins, Georgia – Oscar Martin Schriber, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021. A Memorial Gathering honoring his life will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00PM at The View located in the Brookhaven Golf Course in Porter Corners, NY.

Oscar was born on January 27, 1929 in Buffalo, New York to the late Daisy Budine and Oscar Martin Schriber, Sr. Oscar faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War conflict. Oscar was a member of the 1st division to deploy to Europe for the Cold War, the 4th infantry Division. Oscar was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Bronze Star. Oscar served the community through boy scouts, church, the Red Cross, sharing his stories with youth, and 30 years of employment at General Electric. Oscar was a man who was full of wisdom and honor and it showed in everything he did.

He was an avid camper and fisherman. Once his family had grown, Oscar loved to travel and could often be found on a cruise trip traveling all around the world. He spent his free time woodworking; building treasures for all to enjoy. He earned his pilot’s license and helped found an aviation museum. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.

Oscar was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Siwik; 2nd wife, Nancy Kenegy; siblings, Charles, Jerry, Robert, Ethel, Budine, and Beatrice; he was also preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Caitlin Schriber.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Steven Schriber (Laura), Andrew Schriber (Cindy), Deborah Haubert (David), and Connie May (Terry). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
