Jacqueline Renee Nordine Holcomb Asbell

Obituary of Jacqueline Renee Nordine Holcomb Asbell

Jacqueline Renee Nordine Holcomb Asbell, known lovingly as “Jacqué,” left this earthly plane on Monday, April 19, 2021. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

Mrs. Asbell was an avid reader and is said to have “never passed anything with words on it that she did not read.” Jacqué was also a natural storyteller and rarely missed an opportunity to captivate an audience, no matter how large or small. She loved the sea and particularly cherished visiting New Orleans, LA and Tybee Island, GA multiple times a year. Jacqué loved to laugh and you could hear this infectious guffaw from a mile away. She was extremely talented in the kitchen and worked non-stop to pass these skills onto all of her children and grandchildren, sometimes succeeding. Outside the home, Jacqué was also somewhat of a real estate mogul in her own rite; buying and selling properties since the age of 24. She lived a full and eventful life and will be missed by all of her relatives and countless friends.

Jacqué was born in the Panama Canal Zone on September 21, 1946 to Rosia Nordine (Jones) and Lewis J. Nordine. As military families tend to do, this trio lived in many places, one of which was Portland, OR where Jacqué attended and graduated from Parkrose High School in 1964. They eventually settled in Warner Robins, GA where Jacqué would go on to build her own family and ultimately survive both of her parents whom she lost in 1990 and 2010, respectively.

Jacqué leaves behind the love of her life, James “Jim” E. Asbell, after 43 beautiful years of marriage. Jim and Jacqué shared a love of traveling, eating good food and hunting for antique treasures together everywhere they could. They had several “antique” stores over the years where they met limitless friends and catered to dedicated customers. Her family knows it wasn’t the “stuff” on the shelves that she loved as much as the story and the people behind it.

Left to carry on her legacy of making friends everywhere they go are her four children; Ginger J. Holcomb Larrabee (David), Tammy Holcomb Whitehead (late husband David), Randy Holcomb (Lisa), and Taryn Asbell Werner (Robert). These children loved their Mama more than anything. “Grandma Jacqué” is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Lace Larrabee (Jarrod), Lauren Hart (Michael), Cody Trayler, Caleb Whitehead, Tanner Holcomb and Layne Asbell. Jacqué was also blessed to enjoy her one and only great-granddaughter so far, and her namesake, Eleanor Jacqueline Asbell. She passes her love of books, travel and laughter onto all of the above.

It is with great honor Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with Mrs. Jacqueline Renee Nordine Holcomb Asbell arrangements.
