Obituary of TSgt. Joseph Benjamin Powers, USAF (Ret.)
Macon, GA-Joseph Benjamin Powers, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. A Funeral Service scheduled for Thursday, August 5, 2021, 2:00PM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Warner Robins. A visitation scheduled for Thursday, 1:00 to 2:00PM, one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Joseph was born December 11, 1935 in Wise, Virginia to the late Wade and Allie Powers. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. Joseph was a resident of Piedmont, South Dakota before moving to Macon earlier this year. He was a member of the Black Hawk Community Church in Black Hawk, South Dakota where he served as an elder, teacher, treasurer, and loved to help with Vacation Bible School. Joseph was a student of the Bible and enjoyed leading Bible Studies. He liked to work with his hands, creating all sorts of wood works, and Joseph was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. His son, Richard Powers, precedes him in death.
Joseph leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Marjorie Powers of South Dakota; children: Billie Jean Sheen of Utah, Joseph Michael Powers (Donna) of Kentucky, Diana Lynn Lawson of Byron, James Powers (Janie) of South Carolina, Janette Carter (Kevin) of Macon, and Mark Powers (Donna) of Macon; sister, Shelby Jean Nixon of Virginia; twenty grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
