Phyllis Alford

Obituary of Phyllis June Alford

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ms. Phyllis J. Alford left this world to be with her Lord and savior on August 28, 2021 at the age of 72. A memorial service with family and friends will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 6pm.

Born on May 6, 1949, in Hilmam, TN to the late Sewell Canada Long and Clara Parker Melton. In addition to her parents, there awaiting for her at the gates of heaven are her siblings, Horace Canada Long, Sarah Long Bilbrey, and Faye Long Copeland.

Phyllis proudly served her country in the United States Army and continued to serve her country as a Pathologist at Martin Army Community Hospital where she later retired. She was kind and welcoming to everyone she encountered and was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren and close friends. Phyllis always kept those around her laughing and enjoyed everything sweet including her favorite twinkies. All who knew her, knows how much she adored butterflies. We will always remember her infectious smile, beautiful brown eyes, and her caring personality. When you think of Phyllis, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and should be lived to the fullest. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter, Nicole Henderson; son, Tony Alford, Jr.; grandchildren, Nathaniel Henderson, Ta'Niyah Alford, Taliyiah Alford, Tony Alford; brother, Bill Long; sister, Edna Robert; lifelong friend, Adrene Pompey; and a host of extended friends and family.

Even though you flew away, in my soul you will forever stay…

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
