Norma was born on March 3, 1938 in West Virginia to the late Bonanza Arkansas Lilly Mitchem and Garfield Roosevelt Mitchem. Norma was a strong woman who came from a difficult era of life. Being raised in the depression, she learned the value of hard work and determination and throughout her life she continued to teach those she loved the importance of each.

She was a very proud mother who cherished her children and sang their praises to all she knew. Norma was a proud mother of her four gifted children, a preacher, a musician, a vocalist, and an encourager. She created a special bond with each of her children. Norma was the epitome of a loving mother. Her four children look forward to the day they will be greeted at the gates of heaven with their mom's open arms.

Norma was a very devoted Christian who followed the Lord, her, God with all her soul, mind, and strength. She read the Bible daily and grew in her daily walk with the Lord. Her acts of generosity, love, and selflessness exhibited the light of Christ.

Norma was known for being a collector of gifts to have on hand to brighten the day of her visitors. She will forever be remembered for her loving smile, generosity, and the love she had for her family but ultimately for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, there awaiting for her at the gates of Heaven is her beloved husband, William "Billy" V. Jackson; siblings, Nancy Anna Lee Mitchem, Goldie May Mitchem, Virginia Smith, Hilda Bailey, Mildred Bailey, George Mitchem, Clarence Mitchem, James Mitchem, Albert Mitchem, and William "Bill" Mitchem.
