Obituary of Barbara "Joyce" Adcock

Warner Robins, Georgia – Barbara “Joyce” Adcock went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 19, 2022. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Joyce will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00PM at Warner Robins First United Methodist Church. A visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Immediately following the services Joyce will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, James Adcock at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Joyce was born on March 14, 1933 in McRae, Georgia to the late Leonis Hullett. Joyce was a family oriented individual who loved being surrounded by those she cherished and cared for. Often times Joyce along with her family could be found on a body of water casting out fishing lines and reminiscing on the “old times”. She truly loved going to the beach and watching the waves crash onto the sand. The ocean truly brought so much peace to Joyce and you could tell by observing the beautiful smile she displayed upon her precious face.

Joyce was a very competitive person in all that she did. In fact, she competed In the Senior Olympics where she won a gold medal in basketball. She was also a very artistic who portrayed countless paintings as well as writing pieces. Joyce could be described as outgoing as she loved to meet new people and share countless laughs and to even dance. While Joyce loved to have a good time, she truly cared for the minds of the younger generation. Joyce graduated with honors from the University of South Alabama where she majored in English and also minored in Library Science. Joyce taught the minds of hundreds as an English teacher at Warner Robins Middle School where she later retired after countless years of service.

Joyce had accomplished so much in her life and obtained countless titles, but nothing compared to the love she had for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had served him with all of her soul, mind, and strength as Luke 10:27 states. She served her savior while being a devoted member of Warner Robins First United Methodist Church. Joyce was a very faith driven woman who spent countless hours praying and praising the lord, as she knew everything she was, was in result of his works.

In addition to her loving mother, there awaiting for her at the gates of heaven with open arms was her beloved sons, James “Jay” Courtney, Jr., Richard “Ricky” Courtney.

Left to cherish Joyce’s beautiful memory is her beloved daughters, Karen Williams, Janet Smith, Judy Wilson (David), Sandra Kerns (James), Patty Johnson (Calvin); 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Ross (Danielle) Joshua McLemore (Beth), Michael McGraw (Kathryn), Derrek Courtney, Danielle Belanger (Neil), Kyle Johnson (Kimberly), Brian Johnson (Chatoya), Tyler Johnson; 6 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by her beloved fur baby, Benji and a host of extended family members and countless friends.

The family respectfully asks that for those who would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers make donations payable to Warner Robins First United Methodist Church, 205 N Davis Dr, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
