Obituary of Wynyard Arline Smith
Wynyard A. "Windy" Smith, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 1:00pm in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Family will greet friends Wednesday from 12:00pm until 1:00pm, one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Missy Blumenthal will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date in Andersonville National Cemetery where her beloved husband, Joe, is buried.
Windy was born in Madison, Florida, on February 28, 1933, to George and Katharine Hutto Arline. She was a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. Windy received a Master of Science in Mental Health from Fort Valley State University. She retired from and served Houston and Peach county citizens in need at the Peachbelt Mental Health Center. An avid gardener, she was a judge and Life Member of the American Daylily Society. Windy was also a Master Gardener Emeritus.
She was predeceased by her parents, step father, J. Terrell Futch, her husband, Joseph B. Smith, Colonel, USAF, (retired), sister, Mercedes F. Babcock, son, Scott B. Smith, and her grandson, Nicholas R.Smith. Windy was a devoted member of the Warner Robins First United Methodist Church (FUMC), the Chancel Choir, and the Winmore Sunday School Class. She is survived by her sons Matthew J. (Salve), Hayden, Al., and Stephen T. (Sheilah), Warner Robins, Ga., and grandchildren Jason, Adam, Stephen, Jr., Natalie, and Julian.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the FUMC.
