Obituary of Glenda Powell Hodnett

ALMA, GEORGIA- Glenda Powell Hodnett, 73, went on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 21, 2022 with her family by her side.

Glenda was born January 31, 1949, in Royston, Georgia to the late Leonard Eugene Powell, Jr. and Sarah Alice Dills Powell.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Eugene Powell; sister, Joyce Alta Wesp; and two grandchildren: Sheyanne Peacock and Hogan Hodnett.

Glenda was a loving, wife, mother and grandmother.  She worked in the textile industry for many years.  Later in life, she worked in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Phlebotomist.  She attended Savannah Technical College and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement.  Glenda will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Glenda is survived by her childhood sweetheart of 56 years and husband of 53 of those years, Harvey Paul Hodnett, Jr. of Alma; two children: Margaret Hodnett Talvan (John) of Bonaire and Harvey Paul Hodnett, III (Valerie) of Bremerton, Washington; ten grandchildren:  Melaina Hill (Michael), Mallorie Corley (Tyler), Harvey Paul Hodnett, IV (Emmie), Clara Hodnett, Charlotte Hodnett, John Hodnett, Gabriel Powell Hodnett, Mariann Hodnett, Gwendolyn Hodnett, and Ezra Hodnett; and four great grandchildren, Ashton and Marleay Peacock, and Makayla and Makenzie Hill. 

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 4:00PM in the Mausoleum at Magnolia Park Cemetery.    Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.  Glenda’s son, Chaplain Harvey Hodnett, III will officiate.
