Opal Garnto

Obituary of Opal Marie Garnto

Warner Robins, Georgia – Opal Marie Garnto, 73, went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 9, 2022. A Funeral Service honoring the life of Opal will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 beginning at 2:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the services, Opal will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, Georgia.

Opal was born on October 12, 1948 to the late Mattie Young Wilson and Monroe Wilson in Macon, Georgia. Opal was a hard-working lady who strived to provide for those she loved and cherished. She could often times be found in the kitchen cooking countless dishes for those she loved to sit around a table and enjoy, while sharing countless laughs. When Opal was not cooking, she could be found alongside her husband holding his hand everywhere they went.

Opal married her soulmate, James Garnto and the two lived a love story like no other. During the 57 years of their marriage the two loved unconditionally and made countless memories with one another. Opal loved traveling around the country with her beloved husband and other family members. She especially loved traveling to the mountains which brought a smile upon her face that had possessed unexplainable beauty.

Opal also loved to go to a body of water with a fishing pole and cast a few lines and enjoy some fishing. Whether Opal caught any fish or not she always had a great time and enjoyed the fellowship with those she loved. Opal also possessed a strong sense of humor. In fact, Opal especially found clowns humorous and enjoyed their amusement. She was also very wise and was looked up upon as a mentor by many including her little sister. Opal loved many unconditionally however, nothing could compare to the love she had possessed for her son.

While Opal had accomplished so much in her life nothing will compare to the love she had in her Lord and Savior. Opal understood the importance of serving and she served the Lord her God with all of her: soul, mind, heart, and strength.

Left to cherish Opal’s beautiful memory is her loving husband of the last 57 years, James Garnto; Son, Scott Garnto (Tracy); Grandchildren: Cole Garnto, Cheyenne Garnto; Sister, Lois (Lloyd) Lambright; Niece, Teresa Grates (Eric). Opal is also survived by a host of extended family members and countless friends.
