Obituary of John Wesley Tanner
John "Wes" Tanner, 63, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 17, 11:00am in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Mausoleum in Parkway Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Thursday June 16, from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Wes was born July 29, 1958 in Macon, Georgia to the late Eugene and Helen Faye Johnson. He was raised in Warner Robins by his father and step mother, the late Nancy Tanner. Wes, a graduate from Northside High School, retired after 34 years from Civil Service as a Sheet Metal Mechanic from Robins Air Force Base. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature, fixing up classic Ford Mustangs, and a good cup of coffee. Wes was a loving husband, father, and brother and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents and step mother, Wes is preceded in death by his sisters: Sherry Morrone and Gail Gainey..
Wes is survived by his wife of four years, Shirley Williams; sons: Nathan Tanner of Warner Robins and Wes (Asako) Tanner of Japan; step sons: Richard Williams of Dry Branch and Sean (Marie) Williams of Jeffersonville; siblings: David (Dianne) Ford, Debbie Lashley, Marty Smith, Diane Bridges, Gina (Bill) Hughes, and Sandy (Greg) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and his Boston Terriers: Baby Girl and Butterbean.
