My daddy, Bill McGowan, and Calvin were first cousins. Calvin was always a good friend to my dad and to our family. We thought the world of Carolyn. They were a delight to be around and passed that on to Tim & Terry. I know there is a great reunion in heaven of all the Chafin's.

I am Tim’s cousin. Visited him and his mother many time with my parent’s (George and Marie Chafin). I am so very sorry to hear about his death. I know for sure he is in Heaven. He was a godly man. He kept in touch via email. I had not heard from him in a while and did not think much about it because my health has not been the best. May the Lord keep you all in-his loving embrace during this time.

We are sorry to hear about the passing of Calvin. He was wonderful Christian man. Always serving his Lord and accomplishing many things around Oakland. We have known him since 1983. He loved to pick on folks also. To all his family we are remembering you in our thoughts and prayers. Love in Christ, Hershel and Frankie Standard.

It was an honor to work with Mr Chafin and a pleasure to know him. I enjoyed our conversations together and he always had kind words to share with everyone. I especially remember how his eyes shined when he talked about his family. I'll truly miss you, Mr Chafin!

What can I say? We will miss seeing that Gilligan hat at church or at Hardee's. Calvin and I enjoyed joking around with each other, I even "roasted" him at his birthday party and we both had a blast that night . Now who am I going to ask a question at 9am and the full answer at noon. Hehehe. To Calvin. I was called "The Mouth of The South" and to this day I love that he and I had special names for each other. I have known Calvin for 47 years! I know that he entered heaven and finding Jesus, where he stayed a while, then he visited with Terry and next he found Carolyn and he was so thrilled to be with all of them again. I pray that God will grant you peace and comfort Tim. I will miss you " great white(his hair was white back the) father."
