Obituary of Barbara Ann Potter
Barbara Ann Potter, 77 passed away on Friday, December 8, 2022. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 11:00am in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, 10:00am until 11:00am, one hour prior to the service. Burial is in the Parkway Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Missy Blumenthal will officiate.
Barbara was born October 20, 1945 in Lucedale, Mississippi to the late Hillmond and Birdie Dickerson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she volunteered in the soup kitchen and counseled youth. She retired after thirty years as a special education paraprofessional for the Houston County Board of Education and enjoyed helping with the local Special Olympics. Barbara enjoyed working on word puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. She particularly enjoyed decorating her home. Barbara had a heart of gold and would care for anyone she knew was sick and in need. The joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren, nephews, and great nieces. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and everyone who knew her will miss her.
Barbara is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Donald Potter; son, Lee Potter (Dee Dee) of Tennessee; granddaughters: Katelynn and Julianne Potter; sister: Cindy Hutcheson (Wayne) of Forsyth; nephews: Barry Lucas (Alison) and Brian (Caroline) Lucas; great nieces: Leah, Libby, and Georgia Lucas.
