TSgt. Thomas E. Chasteen (USAF Ret.)
Tom Chasteen of Warner Robins died peacefully in the early hours of May 2, 2023, after a brief illness.  Tom was born July 1931 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Jack Chasteen and Nellie Heath Chasteen.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served proudly during the Vietnam War and in peace times until 1972, when he retired as a technical sergeant. His next career was a master electrician working at Robins Air Force Base as a civilian with the Maintenance Directorate. He retired from civil service in 1996. 

Tom was skilled at many crafts.  Through the years, his carpentry and woodworking skills allowed him to craft many treasured pieces of furniture, clocks, toys, and tools for his children and grandchildren.  He was a master at building, repair, and was able to assist in all manner of projects at his home and helped his sons with their endeavors.

Tom was the last surviving sibling from his family, preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Dorothy Watson, Robert Chasteen, Frank Chasteen, Mary Hughes, Jack Chasteen, Jr., Bobbie Lee Poole, Betty Dill, Lee Roy Chasteen, EJ Chasteen, and Jean Turner.  His first wife and the mother to his children, Diane Rickey Chasteen also preceded him in death in 1995.  

Tom is survived by his sons: Alan (Tammy) Chasteen of Warner Robins, Georgia and Steven Chasteen of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren: Alex (Jill) Chasteen of Granbury, Texas, Kacie Chasteen and Zac Chasteen of Atlanta, Georgia; and great grandson, Brett Chasteen of Grandbury, Texas; wife, Barbara Chasteen of Warner Robins, Georgia; brother-in-law, Steve (Alice) Rickey of Ocala, Florida; nieces: Lynda Rickey of Ocala, Florida and Cristi Rickey of New Orleans, Louisiana and many other nieces and nephews.  

Tom will be remembered by his family at a private celebration at a later date. He will be inurned next to his beloved wife, Diane in Magnolia Park Cemetery, Warner Robins, Georgia.
