Obituary of Christian Bennett Cummings Sr.

SCPO, Christian Bennett Cummings Sr. US NAVY (Ret.), 72, passed away May 5, 2023. A visitation will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A graveside service honoring the life of Mr. Chris will be held at Brownwood Cemetery, in Sandersville, Georgia, May 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM. 

Chris was born in Sandersville, Georgia on August 31, 1950 to the late Buford Newman and Carolyn Bennett Cummings. He was proceeded in death by his brother Glen R. Cummings.

Chris was a loving father, grandfather, brother,uncle and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Chris dedicated his life to serving his country. In 1969, Chris enlisted into the United States Navy, until 1989 when he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, Chris continued to serve his country by working as a private sector contractor performing many of his same duties. When Chris was not working, you would find him being the life of the party. He enjoyed casting a fishing line, gambling, and most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his brothers and friends.

Christian is survived by his sons: Christian Cummings Jr. (Rachel Moorehead), Blake Cummings (Michele); Newman Cummings (Racheal) and Taylor Cummings; grandchildren: Lucas Agrippa, Chase Cummings, Cayla Cummings and Kara Cummings; great grandchildren: Jhett Jones and Lincoln Jones; siblings: Buford Cummings and Mark Cummings (Liddy) and a host of extended friends and family.
