Obituary of Mr. Stephen Michael Neil

Stephen “Steve” Michael Neil passed away at the age of 64, on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia. A celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held one hour prior at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Saturday, May 4, 2024, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donation be made to Happy Hour Service Center.

Steve was born June 3, 1960 in Westover AFB, Chicopee, MA to the late Mr. Robert Henry Neil and Mrs. Ruthann Neil. After moving to Georgia as a young child, he made Warner Robins his home. He graduated from Northside High School. Steve lived a life that anyone would be envious of; from his days as a social director on numerous cruise ships to walking on glaciers in Alaska. What we can say about Steve Neil is that he “lived”. However, his biggest adventure took place in 2008 when he became a teacher at Howard High School and began the journey of influencing the lives of countless students, friends and colleagues of which the impact will continue to be felt for decades. During his sixteen-year tenure as an educator, Steve worked at various institutions to include Howard, Perry, Rutland and Westside High Schools, William S. Hutchings College & Career Academy and Central Georgia Technical College. He was named Teacher of the Year twice as well as Georgia FBLA Region Advisor. Not to mention, the countless accolades his students won throughout the years to include Region and State Georgia FBLA Champions, Stock Market Champions, CTAE Student of the Year to name a few. Steve has left a legacy of laughter in the hearts of all he met and there will never be another Steve Neil. We all are blessed to have had him in our lives.    

 He is survived by his five siblings: Bill, Brian, Bobby, Ruth Ann and Paula; his partner of 20 years, Bobby; and a host of extended friends and family.
