Obituary of Joe P. Mercer

Warner Robins, GA: Joe ?Jake? P. Mercer, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2005. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Monday in Parkway Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Davis and Rev. Johnny Ellison officiating. Mr. Mercer was born in Twiggs County, GA. He was the son of the late Thomas H. Mercer and Charlie Edna Callaway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Slaughter Mercer. Mr. Mercer was a retired Quality Control Inspector from Robins Air Force Base. He was a member at Green Acres Baptist Church and attended Northview Methodist Church. Mr. Mercer was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. He taught his children and grandkids many lessons in living and dying. To always have courage and hope. He was a unique granddaddy. Everything about him will be missed. Survivors include his daughters Ginny Luther Brantley of Warner Robins, Debbie Curtis Carroll of Centerville, grandchildren Carrie Brantley, Nathan Amanda Brantley, Lacey Brantley, Aaron Brantley, Jenna Brantley, Lia Brantley all of Warner Robins, Amanda Carroll, Zachary Carroll and Hannah Carroll all of Centerville. Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia at 1639 Tullie Circle Building H, Suite 108, Atlanta, GA 30329, in memory of Mr. Mercer. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
