Obituary of William R. Harper

Warner Robins, GA: W. R. ?Bill? Harper, 86, passed away Friday, December 23, 2005 in a local hospital. Services will be at 11AM Wednesday, December 28, 2005, in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Harper was born in Plains, PA to the late Robert Harper and Jessie Michie Harper. He was also preceded in death by his wife Christine Frew Harper. He was a retired sheet metal foreman from Robins Air Force Base. He began his sheet metal career while in the Balboa, Canal Zone. There he joined the U.S. Navy, served on the USS Randolph during WW II. After the war Mr. Harper continued his civil service career at Olmsted AFB in Middletown, PA, transferring to Robins AFB, GA in 1965. Mr. Harper also served proudly with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Harper was a member of the VFW, the NARFE, AARP and the NCO Club. He was a former member of the Moose Club and former member of the First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. Survivors include his daughter Jane H. David Benton of Kenansville, NC, son William R. Harper, Jr. of Warner Robins, brother Harry Rita Harper of Auburn, NY, grandchildren Tammy Chris Kothe of Perry, Laurie Kristian Di Gaetano of Marietta, GA, Brian Beth Benton of Indian Trail, NC and Victoria Tori Harper of Warner Robins and six great grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Special Childrens Program attention Jan Carter Museum of Aviation at P.O. Box 2469, Warner Robins, GA 31099 in memory of Mr. Harper. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
