Obituary of James T. Humphrey

James T. Humphrey, Sr., 88, of Fort Myers, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. He was loved by his family and friends. He was born in Tuskeegee, Alabama on September 18, 1915. He moved with his family at an early age to Montezuma, Georgia where he lived until entering the Army Air Corps during World War II. After being discharged he moved to Warner Robins, Georgia where he worked for the Air Force as a civilian employee at Robins Air Force Base until his retirement. James and his wife Etholyn were active in their community and members of the First Baptist Church of Warner Robins for 51 years. Humphrey served various roles in his church including Chairman of the Board of Deacons. In 2000 the Humphreys relocated to Ft. Myers. They are members of First Baptist Church of Ft. Myers. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Etholyn; a son James Nancy Humphrey, Jr., of Ft. Myers, FL; a daughter Elaine H. Jim Monn of VA Beach, VA; a sister Ruby Hudson of Cairo, GA; a brother Curtis Irma Humphrey of Albertville, AL; granddaughters Jennifer Humphrey Skip Keaton of Atlanta, GA; Amy Rick Johnston of Ft. Myers, FL; Casey LaGrave of Ft. Myers; a grandson Charles Monn of VA Beach, VA; and two great-grandsons Matthew Johnston of Ft. Myers, FL and Daulton LaGrave of Ft. Myers, FL. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908. Heritage Memorial Funeral home has charge of arrangements.
