Obituary of Thurman R. Burke

Warner Robins, GA: Thurman R. Burke, Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Burke was born in Live Oak, FL to the late Hardy Walker and Eva Starling Burke. He was also preceded in death by his wife Juanita Grooms Burke. Mr. Burke was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during W.W.II and the Korean conflicts. He was the former owner and operator of Burke Furniture Company for many years and a avid bowler and golfer. Mr. Burke was a longtime member of the Warner Robins Lions Club where he was a past president, a former board member of the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Warner Robins Jaycees. Survivors include his sons Thurman R. ?T.R.? Burke, Jr. of Warner Robins and David Burke of Lizella, brother Walker Burke of Warner Robins , sister Minnie Lee Wilson of Savannah and three grandchildren. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
