Obituary of Alberta M. Jarres

Warner Robins, GA. – Alberta M. Jarres, “Mrs. J” 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. A funeral service for Mrs. J will be held Friday September 21, 2018, 1:00PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member. Burial will follow the service at Parkway Memorial Gardens. Father Fred Nijem and Father Thomas Murphy will officiate. A Rosary will be held on Thursday Evening, at 6:00PM with a visitation to follow until 8:00PM. She was born on May, 6, 1927 to the late Edward and Alberta Gira. She received her nursing degree in Willard Ohio and completed her Residency at the Cleveland Clinic. Mrs. “J” moved to Warner Robins in 1959 and worked for a private Dr. to begin her nursing career. From there she transferred to Robins Air Force Base Hospital. She later went to work at Houston Medical Center as a surgical nurse. She was promoted to charge nurse, then floor supervisor, later to an Assistant Director. Mrs. “J” was temporarily assigned to the Perry Hospital as their 1st Director of Nurses. She later returned to the Houston Medical Center as Assistant Director of Nurses. After Retiring, She returned back to Houston Medical Center as a PRN nurse. Her greatest passion in life was traveling with her son. She stepped foot on 6 continents, 17 cruises and over 50 countries. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Jarres. Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Greg L. Jarres, Warner Robins; special friend, Hal Callaway and her 3 caregivers, Bonnie Hebert, Sheatira McKenzie and Tootie Priester.
