Obituary of Julia Hilton

Montgomery, AL- Julia Hilton, 56, passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 12, 2018. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held, Friday, September 21, 2018, 10:00AM in the chapel at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Reverend Andy Pickens will officiate. Julia, an artist from Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, was born January 15, 1962 to Jack and Kathrine Wilson. Her husband of five years, Alton Hilton, describes her as the greatest woman he has ever known. Julia was a nurturing spirit, always looking after the well-being of others, without complaint. No matter how significant, she was always willing to sacrifice time, talent, and treasure to meet the need at hand. Julia was a wonderful humanitarian who believed God should be number one in everyone’s life and considered her acts of kindness as expressions of thankfulness to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is the mother of eight beautiful children and loved each one the same. After college Julia became an Illustrator for Coca Cola Corp. at the headquarters in Atlanta, GA. Many of Julia’s greatest accomplishments can be found in her artwork. She produced beautiful paintings attracting the attention of Presidents, Governors, Mayors, and musicians such as the great Sir Elton John. The most memorable of her contributions was being flown from Montgomery, AL on Air Force One to New York, NY to present prints of her painting called “The Prodigal Son” commemorating the events of 9/11. During a ceremony organized by the City of New York, Julia gave the prints to the workers who helped at Ground Zero instead of giving them to the city government officials. Julia was in turn awarded “Honorary Police Officer” by the NYPD and “Honorary Firefighter” by the FDNY. The famous piece she delivered to New York hangs on Wall Street to this day. Julia’s memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed. Please sign the online guest book at www.heritagemfh.com.
