Obituary of Vera W. Averett

Macon: Vera W. Averett Mema, 94, went peacefully home to Heaven on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dennis Andrews will officiate. Ms. Averett was born in Taylor County to the late Calvin and Sallie Whitley Williams and had lived in Macon since 1956. She worked in the Martha Mills in Thomaston and was a retired seamstress and maker of custom draperies. Her daughter Lillian Andrews and infant son Prathan Albert Averett preceded her in death. She was a Baptist. Survivors include: daughter Laverne Kennon Reynolds of Warner Robins; son Leon Averett of Macon; son-in-law Robert Andrews of Macon; adopted son W. E. Gilder Jr. of Anderson, SC. Grandchildren: Thomas Reynolds and Ellen Reynolds of Warner Robins; Rob Dee Andrews of Monticello. Great grandchildren: Sarah Andrews and Mary Andrews of Monticello. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Television Fund, 205 N. Davis Dr. Warner Robins, GA 31093 or to Magnolia Manor of Macon c/o FUMC Warner Robins. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
