Obituary of Robert Getter

Warner Robins, GA: Robert ?Bob? Getter, 56, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, following a long illness. Services will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will be private. Mr. Getter was born in Waukesha County, Wisconsin to the late Kenard L. Getter and Rae L. Greig. Bob held positions as Executive Director for the Hawkinsville/Pulaski County Arts Council and for the Conyers Arts Council. Most recently Bob was the Executive Director of the Houston County Certified Literate Community Program-an organization that promotes adult literacy. He was instrumental in developing a series of seminars to assist new Spanish-speaking citizens of Houston County and welcome them into the community. He was an active member and Assistant Director of the Heart of Georgia Barbershop Chorus and a former member of the Georgian Renaissance Singers. He was a lifelong member of the Optimist Club International, holding various offices in the Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club as well as serving as a past Optimist Governor in Wisconsin, where he still holds the national record for number of new clubs built. Bob was an active member of the Centerville United Methodist Church Choir and a member of the Good News Quartet. Survivors include his wife Barbara Getter of Warner Robins, stepchildren Amanda Ferrell and Richy Ferrell of Atlanta, brother David Getter of Warner Robins, nephews Jason Getter and David Getter, cousins Nancy Paul Dvoracheck and Raymond Greig. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
