Obituary of Janie Ruth Johnson Stewart

Warner Robins, GA: Janie Ruth Johnson Stewart, 88, went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2008. Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 9th, at the Second Baptist Church with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stewart was born in Monroe County, Georgia to the late Rolfe and Nannie Kate Grant Johnson. She had lived in Warner Robins since 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Stewart, Sr. and a son, James L. â??Jimmyâ?쳌 Stewart, Jr.. She was one of the founding members of the Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins. She served in many areas of the church. She was a member of the Harmony Faith Sunday Class, the XYZ Senior Group and a former member of the church choir. Mrs. Stewart was a graduate of Mary Persons High School and attended Bessie Tift College both which are in Forsyth. She received her B.S. & Master Degrees from Georgia College in Milledgeville. She taught at Westside Elementary School for 32 years. She was a member of the Georgia Association of Educators, the National Education Association and the National Society of Washington Family Descendants. Survivors include her children, Nancy Stewart Jerry Miller of Dublin, Charles P. Gayle Stewart of Warner Robins, Janice StewartLarry Varnadoe of Kathleen, daughter-in-law, Barbara Long Stewart of Kathleen. Siblings, Imogene Vincent of Eatonton, Merle Harold Giddens of Warner Robins, David Jeannie Johnson of Calhoun and, Gloria Nix of Forsyth. Grandchildren, Mark Kim Stewart of Warner Robins, Darin Tammi Stewart of Suwanee, Bryan Tammy Stewart of Kathleen, Denise Stewart Chris James of Niceville, FL, Joy Stewart Jimmy Moneypenny of Warner Robins, Paul Jennifer Varnadoe of Athens, Brett Varnadoe Jessica Elser of Warner Robins, three step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, Clara Jordon and Traci Brown, her loving caregivers, many nieces and nephews. Last but not least,Rusty Boy Stewart, her precious Jack Russell Terrier.. Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make donations to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund at 2405 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA, 31088. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
