Obituary of Thomas D. Hunt

Warner Robins: Thomas D. Hunt, Sr., 84, passed away on Monday March 30, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Warner Robins. Burial will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Revs. Jimmy Hutto and Andy Hammack will officiate. Mr. Hunt was born in Marshall County, Alabama on November 15, 1924 to the late Grover and Maude Williams Hunt. He was a veteran of World War II in which he received a Purple Heart and served at the Nuremburg trials in Germany after the war. Mr. Hunt was a prominent business leader and served two terms on the Warner Robins City Council from 1966 until 1974. He was also a past president of the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce and a long time member of the Rotary and the Noon Optimist Clubs of Warner Robins. He was a recipient of the Charlie L. Jones Memorial Award in 1990 given by the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hunt was a member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his siblings Joe Hunt, Cliff Hunt, Grover Hunt and Inez Plunkett. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Irma Hunt of Warner Robins. Children; Margaret Moore of Warner Robins, Thomas Hunt of Cochran, Randy Eva Hunt of Warner Robins, Sheila Dave Gose of Jonesboro and Terri Jody Watson of Warner Robins. Brother; George Hunt of Roswell. Sisters-in-law; Getta Hunt and Frances Hunt. Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warner Robins Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 1082, Warner Robins, GA 31099. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
