Obituary of James Robert Adcock

Warner Robins, GA: Gunnery M/Sgt. James Robert Adcock, Ret. U.S. Marines, 78, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Adcock was born in Memphis, TN to the late Frank J. and Clara Watson Adcock. He was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Rhodes. Mr. Adcock was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Keenagers Senior Group and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He served proudly with the U.S. Marine Corp and retired with 20 years of service. After his years with the Marine Corp., he worked at Robins Air Force Base in the Inventory Management section until his retirement. Mr. Adcock was a member of the NARFE and the VFW. He graduated from Hume High School in Memphis, TN and from Georgia College in 1976 where he received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Adcock was the Regional & Area President of Parent Without Partners. Survivors include his wife Barbara Joyce Adcock of Warner Robins, sons James Robert June Adcock of Atlanta, John Thomas Gail Adcock of Warner Robins, Joseph Ronald Kristy Adcock of Bonaire, stepchildren Richard Joni Courtney of Bay City, MI, Karen Williams of Pensacola, FL, Janet Wes Smith of Stapleton, AL, Judy Ann David Wilson of Warner Robins, Sandra Steve Kerns of Warner Robins, Patty Calvin Johnson of Albany, GA, sister Emily Henderson of Memphis, TN, brothers Frank Adcock, Jr. and Edward Adcock both of Memphis, TN and Paul Adcock of Myrtle, MS, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Contribution may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 205 N. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31093 in memory of Mr. Adcock. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
