Obituary of Thomas L. McNiel

Warner Robins, GA: Thomas L. McNiel II, 52, passed away on July 1, 2009, in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens. A rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Sunday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 6:30 PM until 9 PM Sunday. Tommy was born in Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar McNiel, Jr. He was a 1975 graduate of Warner Robins High School and earned a business degree from Georgia College and State University. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a proud member of the Northside High School Booster Club. He retired from Robins Air Force Base as a Chief of Manpower Workload Section Manager, served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was a member of the 94th CAMS at Dobbins AFB. Tommy was a member of the National Rifle Association, an avid fisherman and all around handyman. He was a devoted family man, friend, sportsman, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Survivors include his wife, Madeline L. McNiel, son, Trey McNiel, daughter, Jennie Tim Lawrence, grandson, Waylon Lawrence of Warner Robins, mother, Gloria McNiel, brother, Billy McNiel both of Cordele, sister, Janice Williams of Ft. Walton, FL, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family members. Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital @ One St. Jude Place Building, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN, 38148-0552, in memory of Mr. McNiel. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
