Obituary of George Grimes

Warner Robins, GA: George W. Grimes, Sr., 77, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Andy Cook will officiate. Mr. Grimes was born in Coosa County, AL. He was the son of Sylvester and Victoria Calfee Grimes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Willingham Grimes. Mr. Grimes was a retired MSGT with the United States Air Force. He served in Korea and received a Bronze Star from the Vietnam War. He was a member at Central Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 172 and VFW. Survivors include his son, George Malinda Grimes, II of Soperton, daughters, Vickie Kurt Niedrauer of Warner Robins, Lyn Cliff Bush of Hawkinsville, brother, James C. Grimes of Eclectic, AL, sister, Mary Ruth Mullins of Hartselle, AL and ten grandchildren. The family of Mr. Grimes would like to take this time to thank all the staff of the Heart of Georgia Hospice for the care they showed to their father. Flowers will be accepted but those who would like may make donations to the Heart of Georgia Hospice at 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA, 31088, in memory of Mr. Grimes. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
