Obituary of Ellene Jeanette McInvale Hollis

Warner Robins, GA; Mrs. Ellene Jeanette McInvale Hollis, 85, of Warner Robins, widow of the late Jack Fountain Hollis, passed away February 5, 2010, at Saint Mary’s Hospice House in Athens, GA. She was preceded in death by her sister Luttie Scarborough; sister, Inez Dunn; sister, Adrienne Jones; brother, Sidney McInvale. At a great personal sorrow to Mrs. Hollis was the loss at birth of her twin brother. A native of Ideal, GA, she was born March 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert N. McInvale and Elizabeth Eliza M. McInvale. She was raised and educated in Macon County. Mrs. Hollis resided in Warner Robins for 62 years where she was active in church and community activities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, active in the Fidelity Sunday School Class. She was a member of Eastern Star. Mrs. Hollis is survived by her son Robert Fountain Hollis and wife Deborah Stark Hollis of Charlotte, NC; son Jack Stephen Hollis of Athens, GA; and “”adopted”” son, David Arnold Hammond of Athens, GA. Apart from her devotion to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Hollis will be lovingly remembered for her pineapple pound cakes, her ready laughter, and her firm belief in the power of a hug. Funeral services for Mrs. Hollis will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, 10 February 2010 at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr. and Rev. Missy Blumenthal officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. Friends may visit the family from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday, 9 February 2010 at the funeral home.
