Obituary of John P. Steese

Warner Robins, GA: John P. Steese, 70, passed away on Friday February 26, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 PM with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Pastor David Brighton will officiate. Mr. Steese was born in Mifflinburg, PA. He was the youngest of three sons born to Dr. Charles M. Steese and Dr. Ruth Miller Steese. John was baptized and confirmed on Palm Sunday 1958 at the Lutheran Chapel in Francis E. Warren AFB, WY. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in October of 1979 after 22 years of service. John was a Vietnam veteran. He has worked in the Warner Robins area since 1984. He coached and refereed youth sports which he loved very much. He was instrumental in starting Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. He served there as President, Chairman of the Board of stewardship and a church Elder. Survivors include his wife Joan M. Steese of Warner Robins, children Pam Kriegel husband Dave of Brownsville, TX, Chuck Steese wife Jamie of Littleton, Co, Julie husband Wes of Alpharetta, GA, John wife Christi of Perry, GA, Christy husband Patrick of Honolulu, HI, Steve Steese of Denver, CO, brother George M. Steese of Mifflinburg, PA and 12 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church @ 336 Carl Vinson Pkwy, Warner Robins, GA, 31088, in memory of Mr. Steese. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
