Croal Daniel “”Speck”” Lister, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Houston Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009, at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Asbell and Reverend Missy Blumenthal officiating. Interment will be at Magnolia Park Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Methodist Home for Children & Youth, P. O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203-2525. Mr. Lister was born in Laurens County to the late Charles Edgar and Evie Floyd Lister. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabeee during World War II and the Korean War, spending a great deal of time in the South Pacific. In 1941, he moved to Warner Robins to work at Robins Air Force Base, where he met his loving wife. “”Speck”” and Hilda were “”pioneers”” of Warner Robins, and chose to build their family here. He worked at RAFB in Civil Service for over 37 years and retired in 1979. When RAFB celebrated their 50th Anniversary, he was asked to return and recognized as one of the oldest living former employees of the base. A member of the Al Sihah Temple, and the Scottish Rite Freemasonry, he was also a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America Club, and First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. A faithful and loyal citizen of Warner Robins, Speck loved his hometown. A man with a generous heart, he enjoyed people and telling jokes to them. He truly had a green thumb and his generosity spoke loudly when he gave tomatoes to all of his neighbors and friends. Speck never met a stranger and was always ready to share his witty sense of humor with everyone. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Lister, Jack Lister, Duell Lister, Quinton Lister, Charles Edgar Lister, Jr., and Eugene Lister; and a sister, Kimper Lister Knight. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 60 years, Hilda B. Lister of Warner Robins; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Reeves, of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, David Michael and Danette Lister, of Bonaire; grandsons, Chase Reeves and Cody Reeves, both of Macon, and Hunter Lister of Bonaire; sisters, Nell Watson Newcomer of Fitzgerald, Gladys Lister Carter of Locust Grove, Deloras Lister Tucker of Brunswick, and Janice Lister Preston of Lake Sinclair; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to offer condolences to the family at www.heritagememorialfuneralhome.com. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory are entrusted with the arrangements.
