Obituary of Col. Howard F. Menadier

Warner Robins: Col. Howard F. Menadier, USAF RET, 89, passed away on Saturday January 9, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Tuesday January 12, 2010 at his residence. The family will greet friends following the memorial service. Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Col. Menadier was born in Boston, MA to the late Howard and Margaret Patterson Menadier. He was retired from the USAF following 24 years of service, where he was a decorated WWII veteran having earned three distinguished flying crosses. He was a leader in the community and active in many charitable activities, such as Christmas for families, blood drives and a docent at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Following his Air Force retirement he worked an additional 20 years for USLICO. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, an avid golfer and loved children, gardening and bird watching. His first wife of 53 years, Natalie Wood Menadier, and sisters Jane Menadier and Phyllis Temple, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Josephine Drew Menadier of Warner Robins. Children: Bruce Nancy Menadier of Moscow, Idaho, Leslie L. Baily Cauffman of Houston, TX. Step-children: Ursula Charles McIntyre of Atlanta, Joseph Hannah Drew and Troy Tasha Drew of Warner Robins. Grandchildren: Lewis B. Karen Kortum Cauffman, Abigail Cauffman, Hanna Cauffman, Stacey Menadier, Matthew Menadier and Anna-Lindsay McIntyre. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Easter Seals Capper Foundation, 3500 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, 66604. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
