Obituary of Dorothy Jean Lopez Craft

Warner Robins, GA: Mrs. Dorothy Jean Lopez Craft, 80, entered into eternal rest on January 23, 2010. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, 26 January 2010 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday, 25 January 2010 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Gardens, Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins. Rev. Andy Cook will be officiating. Born September 1, 1929 to Joseph and Eva Anderson Lopez in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama and married Carl Bruner Craft on June 11, 1949. They moved to Warner Robins from Alabama in 1964 where Carl took a position as an Industrial Engineer with Robins Air Force Base and remained with the Civil Service until his retirement almost thirty years later. Carl passed away in 1996. Dorothy was a resident of the John Wesley Villas in Macon, GA since March of 2009. Survivors include her sister Sarah Mills spouse Donald Mills, of Knoxville, TN, three daughters Diane Ryan spouse Tom Ryan, Orange Park, FL, Carla Snellgrove spouse Bob Snellgrove of Ft. Valley, GA and Jane Chambers spouse Marc Chambers of Virginia Beach, VA also surviving are seven grandchildren; Timothy Peyton spouse Katie Peyton, Benjamin Peyton, Christina Ritchie, Tyler Chambers, Lauren Chambers, Claire Chambers and Robert Snellgrove and three great grandchildren; Jade Peyton, Drake Peyton and Ashley Daniel Peyton and two nieces and two nephews and their families. Plus a very Special Pet Missy. Dorothy, through the years volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Warner Robins, Pink Ladies at Houston Medical Center, Girl Scouts and Warner Robins High School Band Boosters. She enjoyed working as a sitter for the elderly in the Warner Robins area. Dorothy cared for family members including Carl’s parents and her own beloved mother until their deaths. She has several life long friends in Warner Robins who she enjoyed going on trips and visiting, Lois Aenchbacher and Evelyn Cox. Dorothy enjoyed flowers, gardening and birds. As a pet lover, she loved and cared for many pets over her lifetime. She always enjoyed dining out, playing Bingo, and cards with friends. Dorothy enjoyed traveling with Carl and her seniors group. Flowers will be accepted; however donations can be made to Warner Robins Animal Shelter, 208 Stalnaker Drive, Warner Robins, GA Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
