Obituary of Stephen M. Bowen

Byron, GA: Stephen M. Bowen, Sr, 76, passed away on Monday May 17, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday at the Centerville United Methodist Church with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10AM until 11AM Saturday at the church. The Rev. Stephen Grantham will officiate. Mr. Bowen was born in Rhine, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents Hoyt and Mary Ida Bowen and two sisters Evelyn Dowdy and Dot Nelson. He was a retired railroad conductor from Robins Air Force Base. Steve enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren during his later years in life. He also coached both softball and Little League baseball for many years. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Betty Weaver Beasley Bowen of Byron, son Stephen M. Bowen, Jr. of Warner Robins, daughter Alyson and husband Bob Karlinski of Milledgeville, grandchildren Blake Bowen, Brooke Bowen and Evan Karlinski, brother L.A. Bowen of Abbeville, sisters Mildred McRae, Linda Collins and Janette Lann all of Rhine and Bitsy Jones of Milan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centerville United Methodist Church Paving Fund @ 600 North Houston Lake Rd. Centerville, GA, 31028, in memory of Mr. Bowen. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
