Obituary of Thomas Edward McMinn

Warner Robins: Thomas Edward McMinn Jr., 90, passed away on Sunday August 8, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4 PM in Oakview Cemetery in Camilla, GA. Dr. Jimmy A. Asbell Jr. and Rev. Ed McMinn will officiate. Mr. McMinn was born in Ft. Valley to the late Thomas E. and Roberta Hartley McMinn. He was a graduate of Camilla High School and Abraham Baldwin College. After 30 years, he retired from the City of Warner Robins as City Clerk and Treasurer. While in office he worked with eight mayors. He was on the board of directors of the Joint Municipal Employee’s Retirement System. He was the recipient of the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce’s Good Government Service Award in 1983. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Noon Optimist Club and served four and one half years in the US Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Frank McMinn. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Odessa Cameron McMinn of Warner Robins. Daughters; Peggy McMinn Tucker of Warner Robins and Pam McMinn Rick Doherty of Albany. Grandchildren: Ricky, Cameron and Shannon Doherty. Nieces and nephews; Ed Slynn McMinn, Lynn Bryant Campbell and Gynn McGrath and other nieces and nephews.
