Obituary of Frances K. Childs

Eatonton: Frances King Childs, 102, passed away on Friday October 15, 2010. A memorial gathering will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Childs was born in Houston County to the late Gordon Eugene and Mattie Lou Renfroe King. She was educated in Houston County and received her nursing training in Macon and New Jersey. She worked in the family practices of Drs. Kay and Barnes in Byron and later as a dietician at Bonaire Elementary School. She was a member of Bonaire United Methodist Church and Concord United Methodist Church after moving to Eatonton in 1981. She enjoyed crocheting and listening to books on tape, but fishing was her favorite pastime. Her husband, John S. Childs, stepsons Marvin Childs, Robert Childs, James Ray Childs and brothers Gordon King, Renfroe King and John Kenneth King all preceded her in death. Survivors include her step-children: Helen Childs Durham of Eatonton, Jimmy Childs of Warner Robins, Ernest Lessie Childs of Bonaire, Steve Childs of Kathleen. Nieces: Alice King Bennie Williams, Beth King Jim Gaide all of Macon, Ellen King Smith of Bonaire and Grace King Childs of Eatonton. Great nieces and nephews: Julie Smith, and her son Christopher, of Bonaire, Keely Michael Porter, and her daughter Karli, of Macon, Derek Childs of Cochran, and his daughter Jessica. Sister-in-law: Jessie King of Macon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, Eatonton, GA. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
