Obituary of Ruby Jordan

Ruby Jordan, 84, went home to be with our Lord and Saviors on Friday, January 4, 2019 with her family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 11, 2019 at 2:30PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, 701 Carl Vinson Pkwy, Warner Robins, Georgia. The family will receive family and friends from 12:30PM to 2:30PM to view the body.

Ruby was born in Johnston County Georgia. Ruby is survived by her husband Coleman Jordan, brother Matthew (Claudia) Fann and sister Bernice (Robert) Martin; five children, Douglas Fann, Patricia (Claude) Gary, Marion Smith, Edward Smith Jr., Brad (Daphne) Smith, and step daughter Yolanda Cunningham-Young (Mitch Young). She had seven grandchildren, Raven (Ryan) Jones, Edward 3rd, Erick, Teneice Smith, Natasha Joseph, Yasha and Ben Young. She had three great grandchildren, Kaliel Joseph, Kaloni and Kayla. Ruby’s capacity for love was boundless, she and her husband Colman raised three adopted boys, Mark Jordan, Tyrhiek Fann and Joshua Howard.

Ruby worked at Downstate Hospital in the Nursing department until she retired.

Mother Ruby attended Union Methodist Church in Queens New York for several years. She was the gate keeper and head usher. She loved God’s people and she loved her Pastor Logan. As a child of God she served with a willing, loving and kind spirit.

Ruby loved to shop. She loved getting dresses up and going out to fancy events. She was a true clothes horse. She also loved traveling, gardening and fancy cooking.

During the holidays her home was the place to be. Since she loved to cook she always made lots of food. Everyone came to her home to eat or for a plate. She would even take plates to her neighbors who could not get out during the holidays. She loved flowers and gardening. She always had the prettiest yard on the block with all types of roses and flowers. She was so good at gardening that she sectioned off a part of her backyard and grew corn, peppers, tomatoes, and collard greens. It was like being on a farm in New York City. She loved children. She baby sat many of the neighborhood kids for working parents.

Two years ago Ruby moved from Queens NY to Georgia to be closer to her family. She loved her new home and reconnecting with her family.
