Obituary of Helen Reynolds Simmons

Warner Robins, Georgia – Helen Reynolds Simmons, 87, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Monday, February 1, 2021. A visitation with family and friends will be held for the public on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with a private service to follow on Thursday, February 4. Immediately following the service, Mrs. Simmons will be laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Helen was born on May 23, 1933 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Otha Apperson Reynolds and James Morgan Reynolds. Her independent spirit led her to venture far from home to Warner Robins, Georgia where she started what would be a 30 plus year career at Robins Air Force Base. There she met her husband of 62 years, Shelly Malone Simmons, Sr. Together, they had three children, Shelly Simmons, Jr., (Wendy Johns) Sonya McEnroe (Larry, “Scout”) and Stan Simmons (Tammy).  Helen was a true southern belle who adored her family, hosting regular Sunday evening meals for all to enjoy, including her grandchildren: Karlie Brahn, Stanley M. Simmons, Jr., April Simmons, Alexis Hawkins (JD), Landon Brahn, Ivy Brahn (Caden Johnston), Olivia  Simmons, Shelly M. Simmons, III. “Trey”, Evana Baggett; Great-grandchildren; Jayson, Aubree, and Karman.  

In Helen’s younger years, she enjoyed a good game of golf, a Danielle Steel romance novel, collecting magnets of the many places she traveled, the Sunday crossword puzzle and working in her flowers. Her sister, Betty Moree, extended family and many cherished friends, survives Miss Helen.  Upon her passing, her baby brother Samuel James Reynolds, “SJ” and other family members who have gone on before, were there awaiting her at heaven’s gates.
