Mrs. Norris, I just found out that Duane had passed away. He was a good friend and kind soul. When he and I last talked on the phone in January, he was so full of life and we laughed for over an hour. We had planned on seeing each other the first week of March when I would be in Atlanta. I wasn't able to reach him to finalize our plans. Duane was the first friend I made when I moved to Atlanta in 2004. His love for his dog Butterbean was unlike any other. Now they are together in Heaven. He really and truly made my new life in Atlanta a positive experience and became a close friend I new would be for life. I will miss him dearly. You and Debbie are in my thoughts and prayers. Eric Laxo

Mrs. Norris,
Duane was a great inspiration to me and so many others as teammates on the Warner Robins Swim Team (WRST)/International City Aquanauts (ICA) from the early to late 1970's. Duane was the fastest Breaststroker on the Team - a stroke requiring great strength, finesse, and stamina. Duane had such strong, powerful legs along with a technically perfect stroke mechanics and rhythm. Watching Duane swim was like an artistic ballet in the water - such a pleasure to watch at swim meets. Duane's positive attitude, intense competitiveness, and Joy for Life were infectious, life-giving, and blessed us all in so many unique and grand ways. Prayers for comfort, healing, and peace for you and your family. Mrs. Norris - Thank You for your dedicated, giving efforts throughout Duane's, my, and so many others' swim careers in Warner Robins. I will cherish these wonderfully glorious memories for all of My Life as I will Duane's genuine Smile.
Love,
Ronnie Sharpe

Dear Mrs. Norris and family,
It was a privilege to know Duane in elementary school. He kept the class and the teachers laughing. It was good to see him again in high school still so full of personality. We had a few long talks in the last 2 years and I am glad he came by to see me. He will be missed.
