James D. Abell, 73, passed away at his home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 3, 2022.
Beloved husband, soulmate, and father, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lydia Jones Abell; daughter, Angela Abell Hendrix of Byron, Ga.; two grandsons: 1st Lt. Dillon Hendrix (Jana), stationed at Camp Pendleton of Dana Point, California and Zane Abel Costa of Byron, Ga; one great-grandchild, JD Hendrix of Dana Point, California; siblings: Carolyn Smith (David) of Ocala Florida, Ray Abell (Melodye) of Lake Worth Florida, Sue George of Guntersville, Alabama, Mary Nebel of Titusville, Florida.
James is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Reverend James R. Abell and Odelle Gibbs Abell.
James worked at Moody Ford Body Shop in the 1970’s and Robins Air Force Base where he had worked on C-130’s as a sheet metal mechanic for numerous of years. After years of both dedicated and faithful service, James had retired from Robins Air Force Base in 2013. James also loved selling exotic pets at his world famous booth at Smiley Flea Market every weekend with his friend, Lawrence where they had made countless connections over the years.
The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude for the support in which they have received from James’ work partner and buddy, Sammie and Linda Prince who had expressed his act of caring through his many visits. The family would also like to thank the nurses, nursing aids, chaplain, and social workers of Hospice Care Options of Warner Robins, Ga. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Dr. Shetty and his associates for caring for Mr. James during his recent health crisis.
