Obituary of Mary Evans Petrie Cook

Mary Evans Petrie Cook, age 79, went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, June 17, 2022.  A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 10:00am in the Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Milledgeville with Chaplain Lisa Johnson officiating. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, June 20 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mary was born in Kermit, West Virginia on January 5, 1943 to the late Phillip Evans and Laura Bell Dingess. She worked as an office manager for Volt Electronics and retired from the State of Georgia Youth Detention Center in Milledgeville. Mary was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed hanging out with her friends. She liked to go out dancing and was an avid reader and fan of the author, Danielle Steel. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Cook; son, Timothy Robert Petrie; brother, Joe Bryant Dingess; and sister, Georgia Marcum.
Mary is survived by her children: Patti Petrie Williams, Robin Petrie Grooms, and Randell (Bonnie) Petrie; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Faye Fader, and a host of extended friends and family.
