Obituary of Clarence O. Woods

Clarence "Woody" Obrene Woods, 89, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023 in Mexico Beach, FL. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors. Woody was born on June 10, 1933 in Cody, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Eva Fannin Woods. In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Gene Brumley Woods, four sisters, and a brother. Woody was a generous, hardworking man. He received his undergraduate degree from Union College, MBA from Auburn University and had the honor of being selected to attend the Air War College.  Woody was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force and began his career with the Air Force Audit Agency, retiring after 30 years. Woody  enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, and watching the magnificent sunsets at Mexico Beach, his “ Happy Place”. 

Woody is survived by his cherished children: Shannon Channell (Dale) and Douglas Woods (Amy); grandchildren: Ramey Channell, Hannah Channell Wells (Matt), Landon Woods (Katie) and Patrick Woods; great grandchildren: Nolan Wells, Eve Jean Wells, Logan Woods, and Luca Woods; siblings; Kathleen Potts and Darrel Woods; as well as many very special nieces, nephews and cousins.
